South Africa will hope to be in the mix for the T20 World Cup in two years' time.

South Africa will be hoping to be in the mix for the T20 World Cup in two years' time.

It has been a tough few years for South African cricket, on and off the field, but there are still enough quality players in their ranks to make them one of the favourites ahead of Friday's opening contest against Sri Lanka at Eden Park.

Conclusion

South Africa's World Cup qualification hopes could be resting on the shoulders of some of their younger players. Aiden Markram, Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen are all certainties to be included in this side, but there are spots still up for grabs. Rossouw and Smuts were both solid performers during the recently concluded Ram Slam T20 competition so will likely join them with more experienced campaigners like Du Plessis, Amla, de Villiers and Imran Tahir also likely starters.
