The Gujarat State League T20 Tournament is the first of its kind in the state to be played at this level. Four teams will compete in this tournament and they are: The Kutch Warriors, Gohilwad Gladiators, Saurashtra Gold Super Kings, and Ahmedabad Rockets (in no particular order). The matches will be played at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera (Ahmedabad), Jamnagar Stadium Ground (Jamnagar) and Rajkot Stadium Ground (Rajkot).
The Kutch Warriors are undefeated in their first 4 matches this season, and are looking for a victory over their south Gujarat neighbors, the Gladiators. Strongly built and powerful, their batting lineup has been dominant with scores of 180+ in each game so far. Their bowling lineup is also strong enough to cause problems for any team; they have yet to lose a match even though they have come back from behind twice already this season against formidable opponents like the Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant
The Gohilwad Gladiators are known as one of India's strongest teams due to their consistent performance on the field year after year. They've had some ups and downs recently but seem poised to rebound with a win over Kutch Warriors after losing both their previous matches by less than five runs each time.
Gohilwad Gladiators had a tough time in the first edition of the Gujarat State League, managing to win only two matches. Since then, the team has undergone a major revamp and this season they have played some hard hitting cricket to maintain an unbeaten status so far.
The team has brought on board players such as Manish Parmar and Rishi Patel who have been in the scene for quite some time now. It also includes new comers like Pankaj Soni (who was part of Surat's title winning squad) and Ankush Mandaliya (who is currently representing Baroda).
The side has been led by captain Jignesh Gohil since its inception. Jignesh scored 1048 runs last season at an average of 61 to finish as one of Gujarat's top run getters in Division A along with Pankaj Soni (1295 runs @ 53). He also led his side well during their title run last year with three centuries under his belt including a double century against Kutch Lions at Bhuj
You'll enjoy watching Kutch Warriors, who have tasted success in every match this season and look likely to continue their unbeaten run. They have players like Ankit Patel, who can bowl at over 120 km/hr and batsmen like Manish Sharma, who can hit long sixes effortlessly.
It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for the Kutch Warriors. They started out the season with a loss against an unimpressive Mumbai Gladiators squad, but have won their last three games by double-digit margins. The Gohilwad Gladiators have also had an up-and-down season, losing to the Kutch Warriors in their first game but winning three straight after that.
The teams are currently both on eight wins each this season, with Kutch having two more points overall due to their higher goal differential (the Warriors are averaging higher scores in recent weeks).
The Kutch Warriors will likely win, but Gohilwad Gladiators have been very good lately. With this in mind, it's hard to pick a winner.
